Our Day in Pittsburgh : )

Today, my girls and I went on an adventure in Pittsburgh!

We visited Chatham's campus (Little Kate's alma mater)

Then we went to Shady Side for lunch and shopping!

I got this AMAZING Mac and Cheese At 

Harris Grill Cafe!!!!!

We saw this outfit in the window of Banana Republic, 

and although we are bargain shoppers and would not splurge on it, we had to give it snaps because it is 

"Blair Waldorf Worthy"

(in my words!!!)

I got this hat at Eons, the vintage store.

Totally in the men's department, but I love it!!!

Also, Little Kate got an AMAZING dress to wear to one of our law school dances.  

It looks like something straight off of Mad Men, which is totally Kate's style.

Potter got an adorable fascinator, 

which the fabulous men at the vintage boutique 

promptly bobby pinned in her hair :)

Lastly, I got something I have been 

wanting for a really long time: 

a book journal!

You keep record of all the books you read and write thoughts and ideas you take away from them.  There are also lists to fill out about favorite characters, favorite book destinations, etc.  

I have been playing with it all evening!

It was an all around good day! 

Now I am relaxing and getting ready for the week ahead, it is going to be crazy hectic, as always!!!

Labor Day should be Lazy

And in the spirit of laziness, here is a short, baby blog:

I am OBSESSED with every piece in this outfit.  This would be the outfit Blair Waldorf would wear if she ever decided to "dress down" for a day!!! Waldorf meets law student.  

It doesn't get better than that :)

When the Dog Bites, When the Bee Stings . . .

When I'm feeling sad . . .

1. Bows

I am OBSESSED with bows!!!!!!!

Especially bow headbands!

2. Blair Waldorf

Blair should probably be #1 since she is the one who inspired my love of all things bows!  

She is my fashion icon, her outfits never fail!

On Headbands: "The bow always goes on the right!"

And, She has the greatest accessory of all-time . . .

Chuck Bass!!!!!!!

It is hard to have one without the other,

they are a perfect combination!!!!!!

Some Rooms that Inspire Me :)

I have never been a talented decorator.  Never

However, I can look at things and know what I like.

For instance, in the photo above, I love the way they

have used such a small place to include so many things they like.

I like to use as much wall space as possible 

so I can see as many things that inspire me as possible.

I also love the use of the subtle, 

soft lights in both of these rooms!! 

Hanging them in a circle is an 

unique concept I really like.

This room feels so safe.

The bed looks like a cloud. 

And the lights are the stars.

I could feel nothing but peaceful in this room.

This closet blows my mind.

She actually has a library ladder for her shoes!!!

Carrie Bradshaw would be impressed!!!

This photo is one I would especially like to incorporate into my living space. 

There is little space to work with, and it seems that, like me, she has an overwhelming number of books.

What a creative, unique way to store them!!!!

 I would love to have a bench/couch just like this!!!!

My love of books is so intense, I would be totally okay with this being my living room!!!! :)

Finally, who wouldn't want this adorableness in their dining room?

This IS the Word for Now . . . .

Twitterpated . . . 

This Summer has NOT gone the way it was supposed to go!!!

First, and most importantly . . . 

My Nana died

THAT has been the worst.

For everyone that knew my Nana, you know that she was the most amazing grandmother anyone could ever hope to have

and I know I am beyond blessed to have been able to spend 26 years with her. 

When someone dies, at first you are so busy with preparations and visitors and everything else, it is easy to play hostess and get through it.

The toughest times are weeks later when you go to their house and they still aren't there.  It feels like she should be back by now.

It hits you at all different times, in all different ways.  Sometimes, just remembering that I won't hear her laugh anymore instantly puts me in tears.  It just seems unreal.

There have been other things that have made this summer less than what I hoped, such as commuting between Huntington and Charleston and financial situations, but from tonight on, I am going to focus every bit of energy I have on enjoying the month I have before school starts!!!

Here are some of the GOOD things about this summer do far:

I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!!  I work at an incredible firm.  I share an office with a super nice girl.  I have two desks, with a chair in the middle that I spin from one to the other.  The lawyers I work for are super nice and it is a super laid back atmosphere!

The Food in Charleston is Amazing!!!!! Who knew???

Had lunch here with the boys the other day, and it was amazing!  

The Pineapple Milkshake was sooo yummy!

And This Place:

Espresso Oreo Ice Cream.  Need I say more?




ALSO, I have been able to spend much more time with my little lovebug this summer than I did during school!!!!

There are many more great things happening, and I am choosing to leave behind my sadness and deciding to focus on new opportunities!!!!
